New Member Information

Malvern Marlins welcomes new members, aged eighteen or over, who are interested in improving their swimming fitness and skill. The club caters to a wide range of swimmers, in terms of both age and ability. Our sessions are typically over 2km each, so ideally, you need to be able to swim more than 200m freestyle continuously and at least 3 of the 4 competitive strokes, to readily join in and enjoy them.

Stroke correction and coaching in swimming technique are offered and regular attendance at training sessions will increase your fitness level. If you are not quite ready, or need a high level of individual attention, our experienced coaches will be able to direct you to other programs to best suit your needs. For example, Harold Holt Swim Centre (HHSC) offer several levels of adult swimming lessons and stroke correction

If you are unsure whether you are up to our sessions, you are most welcome to come along and 'have a go'.

If you’d like to try a session, pay the regular HHSC pool entry fee, head outside to the 50m pool and find the club member with the Red Tin. Following your initial session as a guest, the cost for each Marlins’ coached training session is $3.30 and $2.20 for Saturday endurance sessions. Concession rates are also available. 10 Session Swim Passes can be purchased via EFT.

At your first swim, you will be given a Visitor Pass to show at each session for your first month. (After this time, if you wish to continue, you will need to become a member).

Introduce yourself to the coach and let them know if you might not be up to a full session. They will assist you to monitor how you are going. If you decide to get out early, please let the coach know.

Our New Members Officer can be contacted at new-members@marlins.org.au for more information.
